Position Summary

The Discipleship and Group Life Coordinator serves by making our peoples’ discipleship journey a transformative experience.  You will provide oversight, and resourcing for Women’s Groups, Group Life, and provide training, troubleshooting, and counsel to our groups on our campuses. As the Discipleship Coordinator, this key ministry role assists the Pastor of Discipleship on the Central Ministry Team in the curating of resources and curriculum and championing the vision/values for Making Disciples at Grace Chapel.

This person will report directly to the Pastor of the Discipleship and works alongside the Lexington Campus Pastor (to serve the Women’s Groups at the Lexington Campus) and supports the other Campus Pastors of Grace Chapel as it relates to Women’s ministry, as needed. 

This position has the following responsibilities:

Women’s Groups

  • Manage the Women’s groups registration process from beginning to end including promoting the groups and supporting advertising materials, coordination and scheduling of groups, communication with group leaders, etc.
  • Coordinate Women’s groups materials: manage process of ordering/printing books; collecting payments; keep track of inventory; etc.
  • Managing technology for women’s groups, including managing groups over zoom, and managing volunteers to run tech during in person group meetings.
  • Maintain women’s groups web page, including content management and updating information as needed.
  • Logistical support for special events
  • Work with Lexington Administrative staff on logistics related to childcare for AM Bible study
  • Support leaders in effectively using Church Management System to track group attendance
  • Work with Mom To Mom leaders on developing a budget, Web site, publicity, registration, childcare, etc.
  • Manage ongoing communication out to our women’s group leaders and participants.

 

Group Life:

  • Lexington Groups registration process from beginning to end including promoting the groups and supporting advertising materials, coordination and scheduling of groups, communication with group leaders, etc.
  • Maintain and share recommended resources for group leaders
  • Assist in the development of group leader guides to accompany the sermon series
  • Manage and update small groups web page, including Group Finder, group descriptions, content management and updating information as needed.
  • Logistical support for special events such as Group Leader trainings and Group Leader appreciation events
  • Support leaders with effectively using our Blackbaud software to track group attendance
  • Manage ongoing communication out to group leaders and participants.

 

Discipleship Journey:

  • Coordinate and communicate with congregants going through the discipleship journey
  • Maintaining resources on the discipleship journey website
  • Collection and development of resources for Discipleship
  • Gather information regarding the interests and felt needs of the congregation to help make decisions about short term groups/class offerings

  • Flexible:  Must be willing and able to adapt to last-minute developments that are typical of church ministry.
  • Self-starter: Someone who is entrepreneurial and internally driven to achieve the mission God is laying out for us and able to manage her/himself accordingly. 

Required education and training requirements

  • Bachelors degree and/or relevant ministry experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years of ministry work at a growning church preferred
  • Administrative and project management experience required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Etc) and Zoom required
  • Experience with Trello, MailChimp, a Church Management Systems, preferred
  • Experience leading volunteer teams, developing and equipping leaders
  • Has an active and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Practices personal spiritual disciplines and leads with humility, character, and love.
  • Able to clearly communicate and embrace Grace Chapel Church's mission, vision, values and strategy.
  • Has a willing spirit to help support each ministry within Grace Chapel Church to the best of their ability. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in various disparate systems to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Relational skills and the ability to develop community life.
  • A self-motivated leader and effective in developing and implementing church systems
