Duties & Responsibilities:

Volunteer program support interns engage in a variety of responsibilities under the supervision of PAWS Chicago staff. Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participating in community engagement, recruiting, and training new volunteers
  • Ensuring a smooth workflow for volunteer onboarding
  • Communicating with prospective and current volunteers
  • Maintaining the volunteer database
  • Managing general email boxes and responding to messages in a timely manner
  • Preparing and analyzing volunteer reporting
  • Providing guidance and supervision for volunteers

Requirements

  • Passion for animals and belief in our mission to create a No Kill Chicago
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, with the ability to represent the mission, goals, policies, and core values of PAWS Chicago in a sincere and energetic manner
  • Ability to adapt, work collaboratively with a team, and solve problems proactively
  • Organizational skills
  • Commitment to a high level of customer service
  • Basic computer skills, including e-mail and Microsoft Office
  • A genuine interest in, and desire to learn more about animal welfare and the No Kill movement

Intern schedule:

  • PAWS Chicago requires that interns complete 12-20 hours per week over the course of a typical (3-6 month) semester for a minimum of 100 hours on the job.
  • Schedules and work accommodations will be discussed individually.
  • This position is based out of the Lincoln Park Adoption Center (1997 N. Clybourn Ave Chicago, IL 60614) OR the Medical Center (3516 W. 26th Street Chicago, IL 60623)
