Description:  The Earlham College Biology Department invites applications for a tenure track, assistant professor position in anatomy and physiology. The Department seeks an individual who is excited about teaching anatomy and physiology — in lecture, laboratory, and research venues — to bright and motivated undergraduates in a nationally ranked department at a small liberal arts college. It is expected that candidates have a background in exercise physiology. This appointment will begin August 2024.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Teaching responsibilities include a human anatomy and physiology course sequence, a team-taught introductory course in cell physiology, and other courses that expand our offerings in exercise physiology. The position includes an expectation to conduct research that will actively engage our undergraduate students. Other duties will include advising students and participating in College and Biology Department service activities. Preference is given to candidates who are excellent and innovative teachers and have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Biology, Biological Sciences, Exercise Science and/or related discipline is required. ABD candidates will also be considered. However, if finalized, they must have their Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) conferred at the time of hiring. Teaching and post-doctoral experience is preferred.
