Position Title: Asst Soccer Coach-SOCCR - 995426

Position Overview:

This position is classified as a 10-month full-time at-will employment appointment with administrative (30%) and coaching (teaching) (70%) responsibilities. This position is eligible to accrue sick leave at a rate of 10 hours each month but will not accrue vacation leave. The coach will provide daily instruction to student-athletes to increase their knowledge and understanding of the sport. Provide strategic direction, leadership, and motivation to prepare student-athletes for intercollegiate competition. Plan, organize and conduct practice sessions. Educate and enforce safety rules and regulations. Plan and direct physical conditioning programs that will enable athletes to achieve maximum performance. Educate individuals or groups in rules, strategies, techniques, and principles relevant to their particular sport. Evaluate athletes' skill level and review performance records to determine their fitness and potential in a particular area of athletics. Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to their sport. Ensure compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations for their respective sport program.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Develops and fosters a relationship with prospective students and constituents. This may include family, parents/guardians, and counselors. Provides excellent customer service when responding to questions, inquiries, and general interaction with prospects and their constituents. Assists in campus programs and projects for recruitment. Assists with supervising and managing all aspects of coaching the women's soccer team. Completes and submits forms required for NCAA and reports/paperwork for compliance purposes. Helps coordinate the day-to-day schedule of practices and workouts. Assists with the recruitment of student-athletes and organization and administration of team practices and games as needed to produce the highest level of success. Assists in running technical and functional drills during training sessions. Supplies input to practices and workouts throughout the year. Provides feedback in order to help the UCO Soccer Program achieve and maintain a level of excellence. Must be a part of the 'total team concept' utilized by the athletic department to administer intercollegiate athletics at UCO. Assists in monitoring and maintaining the guidelines set forth by the NCCA. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) required. Experience must provide knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts of collegiate sports programs. Requires the application of expertise in the sport to achieve results.

Post-hire: Must pass NCAA certification recruiting test within 30 days of beginning employment date.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching, instructing, and coaching, preferably at the collegiate level. Master’s degree and 2+ years of experience coaching at the collegiate level preferred.

Strong decision-making and organizational skills delivered from a client-centered perspective. Ability to work well under pressure and give attention to details. Excellent oral/written communication and personal computing skills. Ability to serve as a positive role model. Knowledge of and willingness to adhere to all NCAA rules and regulations, and institutional policies and procedures as they relate to compliance. Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics. Interpersonal/human relations skills. Ability to coach on a competitive level. Ability to recruit, retain, and motivate student athletes. Ability to compile and analyze statistics, and other sports information. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
