Position Overview:

Nearpod is looking for an experienced Go To Market Director to lead our small, but growing US Higher Education efforts. This seasoned professional will have demonstrated hands on general management while managing, coaching, and mentoring high-performing sales and retention teams within the US Higher Ed market; assisting in identifying, qualifying, landing, and growing client accounts; and meeting and exceeding sales targets, and shepherding customer’s journey through onboarding, nurturing, and renewal. We are looking for people that are proactive, passionate about helping customers, and enjoy building lasting partnerships. The ideal individual will continuously work to surpass their customer’s expectations. This role will work closely with operations, product development, and marketing teams.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • This role is a hands-on role, which will be highly entrepreneurial leading a small, but growing effort for Nearpod to expand in US Higher Education.  The role will not carry a direct quota, but will manage a sales and opex budget while growing/managing a direct or matrix team focused on US Higher Ed sales and market fit.

  • Coach Sales and Customer Success teams for our US Higher Ed customers to overachieve their sales goals.

  • Ability to forecast the business accurately 

  • Identify and develop lighthouse reference customers that aid in attaining market fit.

  • Develops action oriented annual and multi-year strategic account plans specific to the different Higher Ed segments and oversees their successful execution and implementation.

  • Anticipates market and customer needs. Adapts strategic plans in order to achieve mutually beneficial long-term objectives and goals.

  • Meets and exceeds assigned targets for renewals, sales expansion opportunities, and strategic objectives associated with a portfolio of accounts.

  • Ensure that sales pipeline objectives are achieved and managed correctly

  • Provide live demonstrations to prospects via web conferencing

  • Manage sales process through qualification, needs analysis, product demonstration, negotiation and close

  • Overcome customer objections by demonstrating negotiation skills and ability to sell benefits not features

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the US Higher Ed market vertical and competitive offerings


Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Higher Ed experience in SaaS edtech company or technology focused content provider required; including 5+ years of successful sales or general management experience and 2-4 years of successful product/solution implementation preferred.

  • Excellent business development and negotiating skills

  • Established leadership experience, has excellent presentation skills, and is able to lead others to consensus.

  • Ability to operate in a highly efficient manner by multitasking in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and detail-oriented thinking skills.

  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding goals and targets.

  • Great interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent planning, organizational and prioritization skills
