Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) has an opportunity available for a PRN Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). The PRN CRNA’s duties include providing shift anesthesia services for PSMC’s employed physicians and the patients PSMC serves. At PSMC, CRNAs typically provide anesthesia services for orthopedic, general surgery, gastroenterology, and eye cases. CRNAs develop and implement plans of care, monitor patient condition, respond to abnormal responses, assist with emergent care including life support, administration of drugs/fluids, and airway management. The CRNA will also perform administrative duties of charting, support for materials management and documentation as needed patient satisfaction programs or quality/safety initiatives. PRN staff work as and if needed on a mutually agreeable schedule of both PSMC and the CRNA.
 
PSMC offers the following compensation and benefits for this PRN position:
  • Compensation is $2,000 per 24-hour shift as follows: on-site shift of 8 hours and call coverage for the remaining 16 hours.
  • PSMC provides professional liability insurance coverage to all employed providers for their services while working at PSMC.
  • PSMC has two retirement programs:
    • PSMC and the employee each contribute 6% of earnings to a 401a retirement plan subject to I.R.S. contribution and compensation limits and five-year vesting; and
    • Employees may voluntarily participate in a 457 retirement plan.
The CRNA must be certified by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

Qualifications

  • Colorado licensure (or eligible to apply for licensure) to practice as CRNA;
  • Federal DEA registration;
  • not sanctioned or excluded by Medicare/Medicaid;
  • professional education, training, experience, and current competency;
  • appropriate willingness and capability based on current attitude, mental/physical health;
  • professional liability insurance coverage in the amounts of $1 million/$3 million (to be provided by PSMC for employed CRNAs); and, 
  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible with the NBCRNA.
