POSITION SUMMARY: The Commercial/Agricultural Relationship Manager will solicit, develop and maintain a business loan portfolio, with an emphasis on agri-business, ensuring that acceptable credit standards and loan policy guidelines are followed. They will structure deposits and loans to meet the unique needs and desires of the customer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Maintains a portfolio of existing customers and teams with assigned bankers to maximize existing/new relationships based on customer need. Ensures that all needed data and information is received in accordance with policy and compliance. With Credit Analyst, analyzes applicant data to determine feasibility of granting loan. Corresponds with/or interviews applicant or creditor to resolve questions regarding application information.

2. Actively involved in business development, sourcing and developing deals with other Ag bankers and other key bankers.

3. Grows Ag banking portfolio, loans, deposits and fees. Reaches business development goals that are aligned with strategic/annual plan.

4. Facilitates negotiation with customer, both new and existing, according to established standards, such as fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms. Refers and/or presents loan to loan committee for approval in excess of personal loan approval authority. Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy. Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.

5. Contributes leadership to community civic development and serves on related community/ industry boards statewide.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Utilizes government programs when deemed necessary to meet customer's credit needs.

2. Participates in collection procedures/processes and/or workout, when necessary.

3. Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination education and experience

• Formal credit training

• Possessing and maintaining an insurance license is desired

 

Experience

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Ag lending including the development of an existing loan portfolio.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

• Strong interpersonal and sales skills are required. Must thrive in meeting the financial needs of clients and possess the ability to work effectively and non-defensively with clients and staff members.

• Demonstrated knowledge of cash flow, credit and evaluating collateral.

• Knowledge of general banking and industry trends, risks, etc.

• Working knowledge of loan documentation, deposit products and other bank services as well as loan policies and procedures.

• Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.

• Maintain the integrity of highly confidential customer and Bank financial information

• Deal effectively with deadline pressures and stress.

 

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

• Meets or exceeds annual goals as pre-established by the Director of Ag Banking.

• Meets all sales and growth goals.

• Effectiveness of communications and development of good working relationships with co-workers and customers.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is performed largely within the Bank with limited chance for personal injury. Prolonged and frequent mental and visual concentration required. Periodic stressful situations in response to multiple priorities within established deadlines. Work hours are generally during normal business hours. Unscheduled evening and weekend work may be needed to meet the needs of customers and employees.

• Offsite visits to bank clients that may involve outdoors activity walking on uneven terrain.

• Occasional travel between offices and out-of-town/overnight business travel may be required.

• Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds of office supplies and equipment. Some bending, turning, and twisting required.

• Serves as a representative of the organization at appropriate functions.
