Position Profile

Reporting directly to the Facility and EHS Manager, this position will aid in the daily management of the BC-2 Facilities and EHS Departments. Primary focus will include supervising facility personnel, goal setting, supporting employees training and growth, establishing great communication between subordinates and internal customers, scheduling and assigning work orders, maintaining production and facility equipment, maintaining the buildings and grounds, assist in the management of construction expansions, and other projects. The Facilities and EHS supervisor will also help to organize BEGA’s Safety and Environmental programs, policies, procedures, and processes. Other expectations are the development, creation, and commissioning of new processes and training programs, helping to foster and build a robust environmental and safety culture at BEGA.

What you’ll do

  • Assign daily work orders and projects.
  • Check the operation of machines and manage technicians to trouble-shoot electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic and automation problems according to manufacturer's specifications or best method practices.
  • Supervise complex repairs, calibrations, preventative and predictive maintenance on automated and non-automated machines and equipment using various procedures, tools and equipment.
  • Locate sources of problems by listening to the operators, observing equipment operation, listening for problems, and using a step-by-step problem-solving approach.
  • Ensure the documentation of all machine preventative, predictive, and/or maintenance repairs clearly and concisely for historical and future maintenance purposes.
  • Assist in maintaining spare parts and supply inventories; and maintain an orderly office and shop area with accurate files
  • Maintain safety by adhering to OSHA and company policies.
  • Maintains constant communication with Facility and EHS Manager
  • Assist in leading the volunteer EH&S Committee and First Response Team. Conduct meetings, make assignments, and follow up
  • Keep management informed of safety issues, concerns, performance, committee recommendations, project status, and training backlog.
  • Assist with documentation of Safety Reports such as Unusual Occurrence and Injury reports, Hazardous Waste checklists, and Waste shipping manifests. Enter data and maintain files of all EH&S records and reports.
  • Train, Certify, and maintain records of Industrial Truck Operators
  • Coordinate the handling and pick-up/transportation of Universal Waste and hazardous waste.
  • Coordinate Industrial Hygiene Program, Hearing Conservation Program, Respiratory Protection Program, Hazard Communication Program, Foot Protection Program, Safety Eye Program, and other programs as required.
  • Assist and coordinate creation and implementation of all EH&S programs, processes, policies.
  • Coordinate and support all sustainability programs to assist BEGA in achieving environmental goals.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Facilities and EHS Manager or required by regulatory agencies or the company.

Performance Measurements

  • Work orders assigned and completed in a timely matter.
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance are kept up to date and down time kept to a minimum.
  • All equipment is kept clean and running free of problems.
  • Records are accurate, legible, and up to date.
  • Communicate and works well with all levels of the organization.
  • BBS and 5S concepts are practiced and understood.
  • Safety response shows maximum preparedness.
  • Leading indicator program key performance indicators at or above goals
  • Safety concerns and infractions dealt with in a timely manner
  • EH&S policies, processes, programs, and procedures kept up to date for all locations.
  • Positive Audits by regulatory agencies

Position Dimensions

  • This is a supervisory position.
  • Position is a minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Must be able to work extended hours and occasional weekends per the demands of the business.
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time, carry 50 pounds, and to occasionally lift items overhead up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, twist at the waist, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, deviate wrist (side to side) and conduct hand/wrist repetitions (up and down) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use applicable PPE required.
  • Majority of time spent in direct manufacturing areas.
  • Training of employees
  • Minimal travel requirements for training and educational purposes.

Salary Range

$66,560 - $95,000 Annually depending on experience/qualifications reflects the negotiable range for hire. The top of the range is reserved for salary advancement and growth for this position.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

  • Requires a relevant college degree or combination of relevant certificates and at least 3 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing including equipment, processes, and logistics.
  • Requires strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to direct repairs on complex automated and/or computer-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate the replacement and installation of new equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with equipment factory technical support and perform adjustments, repairs, or replacement to equipment from over the phone verbal instructions.
  • Ability to train others in maintenance concepts and regulatory required environmental and safety subjects.
  • Knowledge of current federal, state, and local OSHA, APCD, DOT, CUPA and DTSC regulations
  • Experience with hazardous material handling, emergencies, and disposal.
  • Current 40-hour minimum HAZWOPER Certification or the ability to obtain one within the probation period.
  • Experience with the operation and instruction of industrial trucks and aerial work platforms and other material handling equipment.
  • Requires the ability to follow instructions, to work and cooperate with all levels of the organization, and work in a leadership capacity. Must show courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with all members of the organization.
  • Ability to deal with problems/issues involving some variation in standardized situations.
  • Must be self-motivated with excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize several projects at once, planning as necessary to meet changing priorities under guidance of the Facility and EHS Manager and other management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to execute e-mails, word documents, spreadsheets, and power point presentations.
  • Familiar with 5S concepts.
