SUMMARY: Will assist the Associate Dean of Students for Care, Access, and Community Standards in various aspects of Student Affairs including but not limited to disability services, tutoring, the Testing Center, and maintenance of documentation, files, and data.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In conjunction with all other personnel, support and advance the vision and mission of the University.
  2. Provides administrative support to the Associate Dean of Students for Care, Access, & Community Standards in various aspects of Student Affairs.
  3. Handles incoming calls and assist students.
  4. Assists with special projects at the direction of the Associate Dean of Students for Care, Access, & Community Standards.
  5. Works as the secondary person of the Testing Center. This includes but not is limited to covering an extension Testing Center area, proctoring examinations, covering lunch of the Testing Center Coordinator and Student Affairs Administrative Assistant, covering bathroom breaks for staff and students during testing, etc.
  6. Develops and maintains confidential or complex files.
  7. Proofreads, copies, scans, tracks, and maintains Student Affairs documentation and files.
  8. Assists in research and documentation of statistics within Student Affairs, with particular attention to disability services.
  9. Assists in providing, determining, writing, and communicating the eligibility for academic accommodations in fulfilling the universitys legal responsibilities under section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended.
  10. Assists in providing, determining, writing, and communicating eligibility for temporary academic accommodations.
  11. Assists in educating and informing faculty of their obligations and responsibilities to students with disabilities.
  12. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Students for Care, Access, & Community Standards or Dean of Students.

The individual must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality, prioritize projects to meet deadlines, write clearly and informatively, work with integrity and ethically, and always remain friendly and helpful. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Ability to work with and relate to students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Bachelors degree is preferred, as is two to three years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The individual must have the ability to read and interpret documents, and the ability to prepare reports and correspondence.

 

Basic math skills are required. The individual must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and the ability to deal with and solve problems. Experience in recording, transcription, filing, and general office duties is required.

 

Computer Skills: Competency with Word Processing and Spreadsheet software required.

 

Other Qualifications: Must have a flexible schedule when extended hours are needed. When extended hours are needed, the employee will be notified in advance. Work schedule typically will be 8:30 AM 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands and fingers to type on computer, operate office equipment, and handle files, documents, pens, pencils, etc. The employee must be able to talk and hear to answer the telephone and communicate with others inside and outside the college. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms to maintain files, set up for events, and pick up mail from the mail room or take mail to the mailroom. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move file boxes and office supplies weighing up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to use the computer to produce meeting minutes, correspondence and contracts.
