Glacial Ridge Health System is seeking a responsible and self-motivated dietary aide/cook to perform kitchen preparation, serving attractive and nutritional meals, washing dishes, and cleaning duties as assigned. This part-time position will be scheduled to work as either a Dietary Aide or Cook as needed. We hire for attitude and teamwork, so we will train the right person!

Dietary Aide

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help the Cook with meal preparation.
  • Prepare any items needed for the next day.
  • Help serve hot food to employees after patients’ trays have been sent to the Nursing Floor.
  • Help prepare special meals needed for meetings.
  • Prepare portions and serve foods and beverages on the trays.
  • Strip, wash and return dishes to proper area.
  • Perform cleaning duties according to posted cleaning schedule.
  • Mop floors in kitchen.
  • Check and stock all supplies.

Cook

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare food from menu for patients at each meal service.
  • Plan and prepare additional menu items for cafeteria service.
  • Consult with manager in regards to menu plans.
  • Assemble meal tray for breakfast, lunch, dinner meals.
  • Check accuracy of tray before sent to patient.
  • Portion and serve foods and beverage on the tray.
  • Serve food to hospital guests in common ground café.
  • Document temperatures for prepared food and storage areas.
  • Prepare food for special functions and baking when needed.
  • Adhere to strict sanitation practices.
  • Assure night food supplies are adequate.
  • Attend in-service education meetings as required.
  • Perform cleaning duties according to posted cleaning schedule.
  • Assist other cooks/team members as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as employer requires.

Qualifications

Dietary Aide

Qualifications

  • Kitchen experience desirable, but not required.
  • Able to make simple calculations.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Able to organize work to meet service time schedules.
  • Able to learn the restrictions of various diets as stated in diet manual.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Team building.

Cook

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen experience preferred.
  • Must be ServSafe certified or be willing to obtain certification.

Dietary Aide and Cook Position

Performance Standards

  • Must adhere to HIPAA confidentiality standards.
  • Must adhere to the Keys to Heartfelt Care.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position.

Schedule

  • Part-Time; will be scheduled as Dietary Aide or Cook, depending on need
  • Daytime hours:5:30a-2p, 6:30a-3p or 7:30a-4p
  • Rotating weekends and holidays
