Newport Restaurant Group is looking for an Executive Pastry Chef to join the team.

About the Position: In the Executive Pastry Chef role, you will be responsible for the overall leadership of the bakery department.

About You: You have a passion for cooking, ingredients, and technique. This position is perfect for a motivated individual with management and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead a team of approximately 7 pastry chefs, providing mentorships, training, and direction.
  • Manage all day-to-day operations of the bakeshop: including production planning, order fulfillment, retail packing, ingredient ordering, and inventory.
  • Lead the R&D for new recipes across all three bakery sales channels.  Taking a yearlong view and establishing a seasonal calendar for changes across business channels.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and General Manager on the overall profitability of the business.
  • Collaborate with the Wooden Pin business development partners to grow this sales channel based on the current business plan.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in high-volume bakeries
  • Experience with production and decorating of specialty cakes and wedding cakes. 
  • Experience utilizing back-office tools (inventory management software, event management tools, Microsoft suite)
  • Experience leading a team of pastry chefs.
  • Effective communicator both written and verbal.
  • Must have flexible schedule to work during days, nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven history of high-quality cuisine, preferably in high volume production of fresh, scratch food.
  • Experience in cost controls
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move 25-50 pounds
  • Be collaborative, using a team approach to creating an equitable workplace environment and have respectful working relationships
