Basic Functions:

  • Matches loading schedule to bill of lading.
  • Weighs railcar/truck in prior to product transfer.
  • Fills out loading record.
  • Ensures that truck/railcar is positioned and secured at proper loading rack.
  • Visually inspects the railcar or truck to be involved in the upcoming transfer in order to ensure that it is mechanically sound and there is no defective equipment before loading or unloading.
  • Wears all protective clothing and equipment, including respirator and fresh air equipment that may be required to transfer the product in a manner that ensures maximum personal safety.
  • Connects loading hoses.
  • Loads railcar/truck according to loading instructions using gauges, loading meters, or weight.
  • Checks weight of railcar/truck after loading to ensure that gross weight does not exceed regulations.
  • Communicates with facility supervisor on any problems as they occur.
  • Disconnects loading arm/hose, inspect for any leaks and complete required paperwork prior to releasing the railcar/truck.
  • Operates trac-mobile to move and position railcars for loading and shipment.
  • Regularly cleans and maintains work areas.
  • Operates fork-lift and other equipment as required if qualified.
  • Completes regular safety checks on machinery and equipment.
  • Complete all required LMS training modules.
  • Collects and submits all daily reports and paperwork and turns it in to the Board Operator.
  • Completes any other duties that may be assigned in order to complete the job.

 

Schedule Information:

Operators work two shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (day shift) OR 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (night shift).

Here is an example of the shift rotation:

  • 3 days on Day shift
  • 1 day off
  • 3 days on Night shift
  • 3 days off
  • 4 days on Day shift
  • 7 days off
  • 4 days on Night shift
  • 3 days off

In addition to this schedule, there may be instances where mandatory overtime is required that may disrupt the usual shift rotation.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to lift and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 lbs.
  2. Must be able to work a full 12 hour shift, often standing, walking, and climbing during the entire 12 hours.
  3. Must be able to climb ladders and stairways up to 100 feet high in order to operate equipment or take readings, and to work at heights up to 100 feet at any time of day or night, in any weather.
  4. Must be able to reach overhead to operate manual valves.
  5. Required to manually open and close valves on pipes up to 24 containing acid, steam, ammonia, water, or CO2.

Special Attention:

This position is safety and security sensitive in nature.

This position deals with hazardous materials and/or industrial processes that can pose a risk to employees and the general public. This facility is required to comply with security standards under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) CFATS regulation 6 CFR Part 27.
