Job Title:  Dentist

Schedule: Four 10-hour days during the week

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing professional dental care to all age groups by applying diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provides care by examining teeth, gums and related tissues using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Evaluate dental health, review patient health history, diagnose disease or abnormalities and plan appropriate treatment for patient issues.
  • Preforms oral surgery procedures to hard and soft tissue, when necessary.
  • Utilizes asepsis controls to prevent transmission of communicable diseases.
  • Provides preventive services through use of fluorides and sealants.
  • Administers local anesthetics when necessary for delivery of dental treatment.
  • Preforms appropriate management techniques for adults and children with anxiety toward dental procedures.
  • Provides counseling and demonstration to patients regarding preventative dental care.
  • Prescribes medications as appropriate.
  • Maintains patients medical records using Dentrix.
  • Diagnoses dental conditions throughout dentition using dental equipment and radiographs.
  • Plans oral health treatment in consultation with patients and caregivers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • DMD or DDS degree from accredited school of Dentistry is required.
  • At least one year experience as a Dentist is required.
  • Experience working with underserved populations in a community health center is preferred.

License and/or Certification Requirements

  • This position requires an active and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Oregon.
  • Must have an active DEA license.
  • Active BLS certification required.
  • Must be able to provide all necessary documentation for Oregon credentialing.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of dental care to a diverse and underserved population.
  • Proven ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of people of various ages and backgrounds including and understanding and appreciation of gender, cultural, ethnic, and international differences.
  • Ability to use good judgement in difficult situations.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with peers, management, and patients alike.
  • Ability to act as a leader to dental support staff.
  • Experience and proficiency using DENTRIX and EPIC electronic health record.
  • Ability to fill-in for providers at other locations as needed.

Working Environment

  • Frequently sit, walk, and stand; regularly use fingers to feel, grasp, handle, or reach; occasionally bending, kneeling, or stooping may be required. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • This position is occasionally exposed to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
