The Student Training and Employment Program (STEP) is an exciting program that offers students who are blind or visually impaired across Indiana the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of finding and keeping a job. This four-week program provides a well-balanced schedule of classroom learning, job placement to gain real-world work experience, and fun recreational activities
Note: Many of the following positions require you to transport students to the job site or to a recreational activity. Applicants with a valid driving licenses may be given priority.
The STEP Job Coach is responsible for overseeing the students at their job sites during the 4 week STEP program. The Job Coach will travel with the students to their job sites, supervise the students by providing assistance in developing appropriate work ethics and job skills for a particular job, and assist the teachers during the Friday job development activities. The Job Coach is also responsible for completing weekly progress reports for each student.
Program dates for STEP 2020 are June 1st – June 26th. If the school district you work in does not let out until after the start of the program we may consider you for a position with a later start date, but this is not guaranteed. All applicants must submit a current resume to be considered.
