We have an opportunity for a Sr. Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team. This position will lead the design, programming, testing, optimizing, and documenting of industrial-style control system for the themed entertainment industry. This position will work in a team environment on defined projects while also collaborating with other team members to meet the customer’s needs and requirements for Show and Ride systems. The position is located at our Rochester Hills, MI facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design industrial-style control systems, containing but not limited to (PLCs, industrial Ethernet networks, distributed I/O, drives motors, sensors, industrial user interfaces, power management, surge suppression).
- Develop, publish and implement testing plans, user/maintenance manuals, and system documentation.
- Create and review engineering work products such as electrical schematics, electrical controls cabinet designs, as well as detailed cable assembly drawing and create bill of materials (BOMs) and all other associated documentation.
- Develop and document all customer and interface requirements ensuring conformance of components and systems to the customer requirements and specifications.
- Lead electrical system hazard assessments and failure modes and effects analysis.
- Support / perform installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of component and or electrical control systems on-site and at customer locations (as-needed).
- Provide design recommendations, alternative solutions and risk assessment for resolution to electrical, performance and operational design issues.
- Collaborate with other project stakeholders (quality, purchasing, manufacturing, etc.) on issues including but not limited to design, cost, performance, obsolescence, etc.
- Research new products, technologies, and methodologies and conduct trade-off studies.
