The Network Engineer is a member of the IT Infrastructure team. The position will primarily design and implement new network hardware and services on the PlayCore network while providing ongoing support for existing services at a tier 2/3 support level. Being a part of the IT Infrastructure team will also require working closely with systems administrators and engineers to ensure systems expectations are met.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and resolve any network connectivity issues proactively
  2. Configure, deploy, and maintain switches, routers, and firewalls both locally and remote
  3. Provide tier 2/3 support to end users both locally and remote
  4. Troubleshoot network connectivity at all levels of the enterprise network, including end user devices, printers, servers, etc.
  5. Backup network device configurations and software
  6. Ensure network devices are properly updated and secured
  7. Design and implement disaster recovery procedures
  8. Support multiple projects at a time until completion
  9. Assist senior IT Infrastructure team members with network design and implementations as needed
  10. Mentor junior network staff
  11. Must be available off hours when needs dictate
  12. Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor

Education and/or Experience

  • College degree or comparable certification in IT, telecommunications, computer science, or related field preferred.
    • 5 or more years of advancing network administration/engineering experience in lieu of degree acceptable
  • CCNA or CCNP certification preferred, Routing and Switching a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of network services and protocols, including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, and DNS
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure networking
  • Experience with cabling, both copper and fiber, in office, manufacturing, and data center environments
  • Experience with cloud managed wireless and SD-WAN


  • Travel in this position is required. Expected travel is 25%. Travel up to a week at a time may be required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to effectively, and professionally, communicate through verbal and written means with employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other mainstream IT management software.
