Description

The Assistant Director of the Intensive Mobile Treatment Team (IMT) is a member of the management team and serves as a lead clinician on the team.  The interdisciplinary team serves adults with highly unstable housing situations, unclear diagnoses, and/or interaction with the criminal-legal system who have often been unsuccessfully served by the existing service system.   The Assistant Director works with the team to support the care and treatment of the program participants.  Our clients have histories of trauma, unstable housing &/or homelessness, incarceration, and hospitalizations and are primarily people of color who are victims of systemic racism.  The work is conducted in the field, where our clients live and spend their time. Hours are typically 9 am-5 pm, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to meet the needs of the clients outside of those hours.  24/7 crisis intervention services are also expected and will be scheduled on a rotating basis within the team.

 

Essential Position Functions:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the team in collaboration with and in the absence of the Director. 
  • Work with clients, families, and/or significant others involved with the client to develop a person-centered service plan.
  • Screen and assess clients for the treatment of co-occurring substance use disorders including through involvement in an interdisciplinary assessment.
  • Advocate and liaise for clients within the criminal justice and shelter system.
  • Assist clients in securing medical care, entitlement, and other community supports that promote integrated physical and mental health, safety, well-being, and recovery.
  • Provide or connect clients with employment counseling, vocational rehabilitation, completion of housing applications and placement, and provision of life skills training.
  • Provide individual counseling that includes principles of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment, as appropriate.
  • Complete progress notes and assessments in the electronic health record within a timely manner.
  • Work with external stakeholders – such as hospitals, shelters, jails, and primary care – to achieve positive client outcomes.
  • Provide services in a strengths-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive manner.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • LMSW or LMHC-LP
  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals who have needs in the areas of mental health, substance use, trauma, violence risk, homelessness, psychiatric hospitalizations, and criminal legal involvement.
  • Experience managing and supervising program staff in a community behavioral health setting is highly desired.
  • Experience working in a community-based program.
  • Computer proficiency in Health Information Technology and Microsoft applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Multicultural and bilingual are highly desired.
