Essential Position Functions

  • Manage incoming applications for supportive housing to determine eligibility for the agency’s various residential programs.
  • Understand Federal, State, and City policies and procedures related to the targeting of priority applicants such as those under Assisted Outpatient Treatment orders, being discharged from State hospitals and forensic institutions, chronic homelessness, etc.
  • Train program directors on the agency’s residential intake and admission policies and procedures.
  • Supervise Residential Intake Assistant and responsible for the accuracy of housing applicants’ information in intake logs/spreadsheets.
  • Communicate with referring agencies.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with housing applicants either virtually or in person at The Bridge offices and off-site locations such as State Psychiatric Centers, acute care hospitals, nursing homes, Residential Treatment Facilities for young adults, and at other agencies where Video Teleconferences are held for interviews with incarcerated applicants.
  • Responsible for determining which Bridge program(s) would be appropriate for an applicant based on their eligibility. criteria as well as their individual needs.
  • Manage applicants’ visits to housing programs.
  • Oversee the completion of initial paperwork/documentation/records for new admissions.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School/GED required
  • Experience working with homeless individuals and/or those diagnosed with psychiatric and/or substance use disorders and/or are homeless
