Description

As a key member of the Program Strategy and Engagement team, the Community Partnership Specialist supports programmatic growth through community partnerships. The Community Partnership Specialist works closely with the Community Partnership Managers to build and steward relationships with community partners, with a focus on afterschool partners. The Specialist is responsible for assisting with training community partners in Girl Scout curriculum and safety standards, delivering mobile programming to Girl Scouts in grades K-12 at afterschool sites, and assisting with administrative tasks involved with building and stewarding community partnerships. This position works collaboratively with members of the program team as well as cross-functionally with other departments to ensure achievement of council goals.

  • In collaboration with managers, steward community partners to bring quality programing to girls and adults to increase organizational capacity, reach new members, and simplify and support the volunteer experience
  • In collaboration with community partners, design, develop and implement innovative programs, including programs to reach underserved, unserved, underrepresented populations
  • Consistently deliver mobile programming to girls in grades K-12, including delivering at least one mobile STEM center +Makerspace program to each afterschool site a year
  • Support the on-boarding and training of community partners, ensuring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is present in all programs and that community partners are following Girl Scout safety standards
  • Complete administrative tasks associated with marketing, registration, information letters, volunteer coordination, prepping program supplies, etc.in support of community partnerships
  • Serve as subject matter expert on Girl Scout programming to outside agencies and groups to support and advance opportunities for GSHCC members
  • Ensure that all programs are developed in keeping with Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, GSHCC policies, human relations, sensitive issues, and other guidelines, and that participation in program events is inclusive and representative of all jurisdictions within the Council
  • Under the guidance of manager, effectively develop and deliver the planning, budgeting, preparing reports, tracking girls served, and other administrative duties as assigned
  • Support program and fund development via grant delivery and reporting
  • Plan, execute, and support council-wide signature events, in collaboration with community partners and other GSHCC departments (e.g. STEM expo, Outdoor Adventure Campout, Get Outside Challenge, Climate Action Month, etc.)
  • Ensure consistent customer experience across all community partnership programs and signature events
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain program supplies and equipment, including maintenance and repair of gear and program vehicles, and stewardship of the mobile STEM Center + Maker Space

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; and Associates/Bachelors degrees preferred
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in a related field, such as facilitation, youth programming, customer service, volunteer coordination, and/or risk management
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 to 18 preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including public speaking, and the ability to ensure that current policies and procedures are followed
  • Able to manage up, engaging other staff and organizational stakeholders when solving problems and/or making decisions
  • Able to manage a wide variety of projects simultaneously
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, staff, vendors, and girl members
  • Must be flexible and willing to adapt to changes that may need to be made to programs, locations, or other aspects of plan of work
  • Must have access to reliable transportation; position includes work-related travel within council service area up to 75% of work time
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and strong record keeping
  • Maintain relevant certifications, including but not limited to: First Aid/CPR
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and overnight events as needed
  • Able and willing to complete relevant driver training and drive the Mobile STEM Center + Maker Space (a 34ft RV)
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and a customer relationship management system such as Salesforce
  • Demonstrate a commitment to recognize and respect the many forms of diversity
  • Believe in the aims and purpose of the Girl Scout movement and be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law and in the purpose of Girl Scouting
  • Valid California drivers license, a clean driving record, and proof of insurance
  • Required to work council events (i.e. Mega-drop, etc)
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, unless a qualifying medical or religious exemption is needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Operate office equipment manually
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times
