The Program
 

The college counseling program is one segment of the services of the counseling department. The college counseling program serves to guide and support all students in their transition to post-secondary education. The College Counselor provides programs and services that are developmentally appropriate for students and helps them to map their individual path to college. The College Counselor provides the community with an understanding of current trends and changes in colleges and universities.

 

Responsibilities:

Help to develop and facilitate the college counseling programs, including, but not limited to:

  • Individualized college and post-secondary transition counseling to all senior and junior class members
  • Develop and maintain the appropriate protocols for college application process, including scholarship opportunities
  • Works in partnership with the Career and Life Skills program for 9th and 10th grade programming
  • Provide curated support to students and families served by specialized programs

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Three or more years of experience in college admissions and/or high school counseling
  • Familiarity with Maia, or other data management system, the Common Application and other digital admissions resources
  • NACAC and WACAC membership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of the broad range of colleges and universities available and the ability to identify appropriate matches for students
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse and cultural populations

Terms of Employment:

  • 2024-25 academic year
  • Part-time position
  • Temporary one-year assignment
