Description

The executive steward oversees staff responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen(s) or other food preparation areas. Assists in cleaning equipment or food preparation areas as needed. 

The job of an executive steward is to manage non-food production areas within a kitchen such as the dishwashing and storage areas.

Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Washing pots, pans, and dishes, and cleaning floors throughout the kitchen.  
  • Organizing storerooms such as walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas. 
  • Trash removal.  
  • Assist in putting away deliveries, and light food prep.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested or required.

  • None

Requirements

  • No prior experience or training required

         
Physical Demands

  •     This position requires an employee to Stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel over 2/3 of the shift.
  •     The position also requires the cook to sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch 1/3 of the time.
  •     Must be able to hear, talk, taste, and smell.
  •     Lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  •     This position requires normal vision including the ability to distinguish colors.

Work Environment

  • This position is exposed to wet and humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles, 
  • Use of toxic or caustic cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to heat while cooking.
  • Occasionally work outdoors
  • Moderate noise
