Summary: Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Annual Fund Manager contributes to fundraising efforts on behalf of Houston Ballet by providing donors and prospective donors (up to the Ambassador level) opportunities to contribute to and engage with the Ballet. Through data-driven direct mail campaigns, annual fund donor events and management of a personal portfolio of donors and prospects, this position is an integral part of the Individual Giving team and its goal to build a community of dance enthusiasts.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned;

  • Create and execute all aspects of Houston Ballet’s annual fund direct mail and e-campaigns; including pulling data, drafting copy, liaising with other teams and departments as well as the mail house, and providing analysis of results

  • Create and execute special annual fund campaigns such as Giving Tuesday and Nutcracker Costume Underwriting

  • Manage a personal portfolio of individual donors and prospects (exact number to be determined)

  • Assist in managing the In the Wings pre-performance lecture series, including pulling data for invitation lists and running individual events  

  • Coordinate updating and maintaining Individual Giving collateral such as General Membership, Ambassador, Young Ambassador and Arabesque Society brochures

  • Prepare donor correspondence, including donation acknowledgement letters, monthly Ambassador renewal remits and the annual holiday card

  • Supervise interns working on Individual Giving projects (in collaboration with Development Coordinator)

  • Manage cultivation and stewardship events as assigned

  • Keep accurate and timely records in Tessitura related to donor giving and activities

  • Assist with the re-integration of the Nutcracker Market into Development by taking part in Market and Guild activities

  • Operate as an integral member of the Development Department

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Minimum REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher degree required

  • Minimum of one year of professional development experience in non-profit setting

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Attention to detail, excellent follow-through skills, and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • A respect for confidentiality and professionalism

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work and be able to meet tight deadlines

  • Exceptional computer skills, including prior database, Word, and Excel experience

Preferred ADDITIONAL Qualifications:

  • Prior dance experience or knowledge is helpful.

  • Tessitura experience a significant plus.
