All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months.All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance is provided for the internship program. 

 

Position Summary: 

Bio-Techne is looking for a highly motivated and creative individual to fill the role of Summer Intern. In this position, you will contribute to molecular biology and cell culture activities for the creation of proprietary and high impact protein/antibody products to be used in cell and gene therapy. This position you’ll learn the ability to work on complex problems where the solution requires creative and original thought. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in all the projects related to the development, optimization and manufacture of our proprietary gene editing tools. 
  • Design and construct DNA vectors to be used in proprietary transposon technology and other gene editing platforms. 
  • Perform basic mammalian cell culture techniques to assay and screen newly designed proteins and gene editing enzymes 

Qualifications

Program Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the internship 
  • Must have completed (at minimum) the sophomore year of college 
  • Must have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher 
  • Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program 

 

Experience Qualifications: 

  • Class work in molecular biology, genetics, cell biology.  
  • An understanding of molecular cloning techniques and/or mammalian cell culture 
  • The ability to work successfully both independently and in a collaborative environment. 
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, manages time well and will put in extended time as needed. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English. 
  • Flexibility to perform the small tasks as well as the big tasks while working in a rapidly developing environment.
