Position Purpose
Oversee and leads the Family Services Education Team (Financial Education & Outreach) Family Selection Team (HB applications processing, underwriting and approving) and Family Support team (preparing, educating, empowering and equipping Homebuyers-In-Process [HIPs]) for Habitat Charlotte Region’s (HCR’s) Home Buyer’s (HB) program. Ensure all HB applicants are selected, processed, supported and educated according to Habitat Charlotte Region’s homebuyer program policies and real estate and mortgage lending laws including, but not limited to, The Federal Fair Housing Act, ECOA, TRID Act, RESPA, FCRA, HMDA, HFHI policy requirements and recommendations.
Essential Functions
General Manager & Leadership –
- Directly supervise, lead and empower through inspiration, innovation and outcomes the Financial Services Education Manager, Family Selection & Support Manager and Neighborhood Relations & Support Senior Supervisor.
- Ensure Homeowner Services team’s production and financial education services goals are achieved and manage staff accordingly
- Work collaboratively with the Construction, Grants & Development departments by providing reports, data, KPIs or HIP special interest stories for funding, programming, including quarterly or EOY HFHI reporting.
- Co-facilitate with the VP of Family Services the Family Services Committee quarterly meetings including the facilitation of the pre-Family Services Committee meeting with the FSC chair
- Ensure the required number of families are served to meet the affiliate’s quarterly and annual goals
- Continued commitment to process improvement that produces more opportunities for the affiliate to serve more families.
- Ensure adherence to applicable Fair Housing and Equal opportunity laws which apply to the mortgage lending process.
- Research and develop policy recommendations and procedures needed to comply with state and federal lending laws and requirements. This includes Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) policy recommendations and requirements.
- Controls expenses by gathering and continually assessing your team’s annual budget; scheduling expenditures; monitoring variances; implementing corrective actions.
- Identify, recruit and secure volunteers to serve on the Family Services and Neighborhood Reinvestment Committees
Program Management & Leadership –
- Provide direction and outcome-based leadership toward the recruitment and promotion for the Habitat Charlotte Region’s (HCR’s) Homebuyer’s and Financial Education Programs
- Promote the HCR’s Homebuyer’s and Financial education programs to community partners and other organizations in the HCR service area
- Collaboratively review with the VP of Family Services the application process and decision in the event of an application appeal.
- Promote HCR’s Money Matters Financial Education program to applicants who face significant barriers toward homeownership.
- Address escalated issues from Financial Education participants, HIPs and Habitat homeowners, as needed, to discuss and resolve identified issues and obstacles
- Ensure Homeowner and Financial education outreach occurs within the entire HCR service area
- Assist with identifying volunteer opportunities for partner families
- Assist with grant reporting, audits, compliance and project research as needed
