Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity and respect.

Jay Brothers Unified Resource Center (JBURC) This program, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is our newest outpatient treatment program. JBURC is CARF accredited and licensed by the Department of Public Health for both psychiatric and substance abuse services. The program serves male and female adult clients who have been affected by substance abuse and/or psychiatric issues. The program offers a variety of group sessions to help clients learn tools and skills to reduce their use of substances and eventually become abstinent. In addition, this program offers an intensive outpatient treatment program. Family/couples sessions are strongly encouraged as a means of improving communication and to serve as a foundation for establishing healthier relationships. This program offers additional resources and support to citizens returning to the community from incarceration.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts screening, intake, orientation, and assessment of clients to obtain information concerning substance abuse, mental health, medical history, or other pertinent information.

  • Implements treatment using approved methods of planning, case management, and crisis intervention to assist clients in overcoming substance abuse and mental health disorders as well as other problems.

  • Utilizes evidence-based theories and techniques to effectively counsel individuals, groups and families.

  • Actively engages in the role of group facilitator and promotes group process.

  • Integrates discharge planning throughout the treatment process including the beginning, middle, and termination phases of treatment.

  • Make all appropriate referrals for clients that are re-entering society post-incarceration, i.e.; substance abuse, mental health, medical, legal, housing, etc.

  • Consults with the medical doctor or other specialists concerning recovery plan and amends plan as directed and in collaboration with client served.

  • Provides information and education to individuals, groups, and families concerning substance abuse and mental health issues (co-occurring disorders).

  • Refers clients to supportive services to complement treatment and counseling.

  • Prepares and maintains quality clinical records for assigned caseload and issues accurate and timely reports as requested. Adhere and maintain all standards as they relate to billing and documentation.

  • Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Qualifications

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Masters degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling clients with substance use, mental health, legal and trauma issues. License eligible preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred
  • Experience completing biopsychosocial intakes, counseling adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, homelessness, medical and mental health issues.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the care of clients.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Valid drivers license required.
