Description

ROLE SUMMARY

The Clinical Therapist provides mental health services to culturally diverse populations in the Central and South Los Angeles communities. Clinical activities include but may not be limited to 1) assessment and diagnosis using DSM 5 and ICD-10 manuals, 2) collaboration with clients and caregivers to develop treatment plans focused on reducing impairment, improving resiliency and family functioning, and connecting families with supportive community resources, and 3) providing individual and family psychotherapy through the use of electronic and telephonic means. Therapists work with a multidisciplinary team within and outside the agency, including caregivers/parents, school staff, DCFS, Case Managers, and medical staff. Therapist must demonstrate an ability to relate to a culturally diverse population and staff. Therapist will be responsible for the timely completion of clinical documents using the agency’s Electronic Health Record, including treatment plans, progress notes, assessments, and other clinical documentation. These must comply with state and LA County Department of Mental Health (DMH) guidelines and timeframes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide trauma-informed individual psychotherapy with children and adults, family therapy, and collateral sessions using telehealth.
  • Perform intakes & assessments to determine the need for services as well as treatment
  • Develop, administer, evaluate, and modify therapeutic plans and problem lists
  • Facilitate attachment and support children’s early developmental processes with parents or caregivers through the use of video apps
  • Collaborate and cooperate with outside child protective or family services workers assigned to children and their families
  • Advocate for parents and children when making outside referrals for services
  • Completion of documentation, including finishing all progress notes within three days using our Electronic Health Record System (EXYM)
  • Use the Wellnest Risk Level protocols and Risk Level Charts in determining responses to high-risk situations
  • Meet or exceed service delivery requirements
  • Represents Wellnest at virtual community services, funder events, and events related to outreach for clients and supporters of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent (MSW, MA, Ph.D., PsyD, or MS) plus clinical experience and/or training directly related to children and child counseling. Applicant must be licensed as an LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW.

  • License or Registration with California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • License with the CA Board of Psychology
  • If licensed in another state, a CA DHCS Professional Licensing Waiver to practice in CA. If there is less than a year left on the waiver, the applicant must show intent on being licensed in the State of CA.
  • A person with or in the process of obtaining a Psy.D. or Ph.D.  and is unlicensed, CA DHCS Professional Licensing Waiver. If there is less than a year left on the waiver, the applicant must show intent on being licensed in the State of CA.

 

 

 

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employee may be asked to participate in cross-training programs or pursue additional education or training when it is determined to be in the agency's best interest. Must have knowledge of community resources. Employee must maintain a valid California driver’s license and clean driving record that meets Wellnest’s insurance carrier’s criteria for liability coverage. In keeping with Company policy for all employees, the successful applicant must also complete a test for TB, and fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Employee will work remotely, so they must have a confidential space to provide client services and must use Wellnest-approved virtual platforms to provide services and participate in meetings. Employee may be required to work flexible evening and/or weekend hours for time-sensitive projects and events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to talk or hear to give and receive information and instructions
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to use computer keyboard up to 50% of the day
  • Ability to be on a virtual platform while providing telehealth therapy up to 8 hours a day
  • Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Computer literate (basic working knowledge of Microsoft WORD, Excel, and Outlook) and data/electronic records program currently in use
  • Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required

Qualifications

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Annualized Salary Range: $74,235 to $83,410
  • This position is also eligible for an annual $5,000 bilingual Spanish differential.
