Summary:

As the Special Events Associate, you'll be responsible for handling multiple projects within Houston Ballet's signature fundraising event and Nutcracker Market special events. This position requires an extremely organized, multi-tasking, self-motivated individual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Position contract length: May 1 – December 13, 2024
  • Support Senior Director, Special Events and work closely with Special Events Coordinator on Houston Ballet’s Onstage Dinner in September 2024
  • Support Senior Director, Special Events and the Nutcracker Market team on Wells Fargo Preview Party, Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Show and Luncheon and Macy’s Fashion Show and Luncheon in November 2024
  • Provide support with solicitations and mailings, reservations, seating, ticketing and event logistics as assigned
  • Attend events and provide performance support as needed potentially outside of standard business hours
  • Dates required for availability outside of standard business hours – Friday, September 6, 2024 and Saturday, September 7, 2024; Wednesday, November 13 through Sunday, November 17, 2024. Other dates to be determined.
  • Operate as an integral member of the Development Department team
  • Answering phones, field questions and/or take messages as needed
  • Make deliveries as needed to printers, mail house, bank, post office, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or demonstrated minimum of two years experience in events or fundraising
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a significant plus
  • Intermediate to Advanced Adobe Suite experience a significant plus
  • Basic experience in graphic design/layout preferred
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills

Computer Skills

  • Proficient personal computer skills including email, record keeping, routine database activity and processing systems, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and the full Microsoft Office Suite
