JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Dining Room Manager, the Bartender is responsible for greeting customers, sharing information about available beverage selections and by mixing and serving drink orders in accordance with customers’ preferences.  The Bartender must provide excellent service to residents and guests, ensuring level of service meets the Convivial’s standards. The Host/Hostess respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares the bar for service.
  • Greets residents and guests in a polite and welcoming manner.
  • Provides a pleasant drinking/happy hour experience for residents and guests.
  • Verifies age requirements.
  • Knows alcohol pairing and tastes.
  • Evaluates customer’s needs and makes recommendations.
  • Prepares alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests by following the established drink recipe.
  • Knows how to make traditional and designer drinks.
  • Processes orders through Point-of-Sale system.
  • Manages inventory and lets Manager know when to place order.
  • Cleans the bar, glassware and tools ensuring sanitation requirements are met.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

The essential mental and physical functions listed below are required in order for an employee to be able to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for the entire workday.
  • Withstanding temperature extremes in freezer, refrigerator walk-in and grill areas.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in fast-paced kitchen.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Partial High School education; High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
  • Alcohol Serve Safe and Food Serve Safe certifications required.
  • Good communication skills and phone etiquette.
  • Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience required.
