Join Team AMT! Now hiring for full-time EMT-Basic Student - Earn While You Learn paid training opportunity positions in Peoria!

Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance services in Central and Western Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit.

Starting on June 3, 2024, AMTs Earn While You Learn program kicks off a 6-week course that will provide the opportunity to earn $15.42 per hour as a full-time student in the EMT-Basic Training Program. You will be afforded all of the benefits as a full-time employee and upon successful completion of our program, will receive a full-time EMT-Basic position with AMT in Peoria and a wage increase! Our EMT-Basics are responsible for caring for patients in emergency response situations, during interfacility transports, and during standby events. EMT-Basics in Peoria work 12 hour shifts. 

Job Duties:

  • Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
  • Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
  • Document patient information, condition, and treatment
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
  • Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment in accordance with company vehicle check-off sheets and inventory requirements.
  • Operate and drive an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
  • Assist paramedics in all advanced life support situations
  • Maintain current certification(s) according to provisions set forth by the governing licensure
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Present and promote a positive company image

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Must be 18 years of age or turning 18 before completion of the training program
  • Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license
  • Commitment of one year of EMT service to AMT in a full-time capacity
  • Must be able to provide proof of up to date immunizations
  • Must successfully pass AMT-administered EMT entrance exam prior to start of class
  • Must successfully complete AMT-ordered drug screen, health physical, and physical ability test prior to start of class
