POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Academic Enrichment Teacher

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations and Academic Enrichment Coordinator

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Enhance and support one of our 3 priority outcomes, Academic Success, through our targeted programs power hour and project learn.

Position 1

POWER HOUR TUTORING FUNCTION & KEY ROLES:

Provide tutoring/homework support for members in K-5th grades in an afterschool setting. Fulfill tutoring responsibilities for one hour per day Monday thru Thursday. Can work anywhere from one to four days per week.

Position 2

SUMMER ENRICHMENT FUNCTION & KEY ROLES:

Prepare, plan and lead a fun academic enrichment activity that can be adapted for grade levels K­5, that inspires enthusiasm for participation and learning.

Plan a 4 day fun, interactive summer enrichment activity that is adaptable for grade levels K­5. Lesson plans are to be submitted before the start of summer program and should include the adaptations as well as the teaching component. Fulfill teaching responsibilities of 2 hour lessons Monday thru Thursday and complete two hours of planning on Friday.

Engage group leaders as support staff as necessary. Prepare and submit supply requests 7 days in advance.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Complete at least two years of post­secondary study at an institution of higher education, (48 credit hours) or obtained an associates or higher degree, or meet a standard of quality and demonstrate, through a state test, the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and math.

Job related experience working with children in an instructional setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions requires the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 60% walking and 20% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature (gets hot and cold when supervision playground activities) variations, a generally hazard free environment and in varying atmospheric conditions.
