POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

Miami Country Day School is currently seeking part-time seasonal pool staff; a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor to join our team of professionals. The Lifeguards/Swim Instructors in this position will showcase proficiency in overseeing their designated areas to ensure safety compliance while conveying the facility's regulations. They will also be responsible for instructing and guiding individuals in various water-based skills and activities. Adherence to the rules of the Miami Country Day School pool and adherence to our Swim School curriculum is essential for maintaining safety standards and facilitating the obtainment of water survival skills by all students. At Miami Country Day Aquatics, our focus lies in instilling confidence, fostering safety awareness, and nurturing competitive swimming abilities within a student-centric atmosphere. We are dedicated to equipping our staff with the necessary expertise to effectively deliver swimming lessons and coaching, thus empowering all students with the tools essential for their success in the water. 

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS & DUTIES: 

 

  • Monitor the activities of swimmers and water activity of all participants to ensure they are following safety rules and guidelines. 

  • Identify potential hazards and take action to prevent accidents from occurring. 

  • Passion for teaching, working with children & instructing, and evaluating students participating in swimming lessons. 

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently. 

  • Responsible for the safety of participants in their class. 

  • Begin and end class on time, remain after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed, and clean up supplies. 

  • Submit completed report cards, skills sheets, and attendance information on time. 

  • Maintain surveillance of patrons in the facility. 

  • Act immediately and appropriately to secure patron safety in an emergency. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under pressure. 

  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. 

  • Present a professional appearance, and attitude, while maintaining a high standard of customer service. 

  • Attend mandatory meetings and in-service training as scheduled. 

  • Maintain a clean facility, perform house cleaning duties, and perform daily water chemical balance tests. 

  • All other duties as assigned and appropriate. 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

 

  • Ability to recognize problems and resolve them on the spot. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 

  • Considerable skill in and strength in swimming. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 

  • Additional language skills are a bonus. 

  • Ability to multi-task. 

  • Basic office administration, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools. 

  • Lifeguard Training (American Red Cross) 

  • CPR (American Red Cross)  & First Aid (American Red Cross) 

  • AED Training (American Red Cross) 

  • Lifeguard Training course will be offered June 10th -14th  

  • Must be at least 16 years old. 

  • Daily shifts - 8:00 am-4:30 pm. 

  • Hours may be scheduled on an as-needed basis. 

  • The seasonal period starts on June 17th and ends on July 26th. (Traning begins on June 10th)
