Position Summary: The Revenue Accountant is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. This position reports to the Accounting Manager with a dotted line to the CFO.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Billing for all activities of EPS, including:
    • Tuition
    • Study hall (in partnership with the Student Support department)
    • Bus (in partnership with the Transportation department)
    • Education Beyond Campus Trips (in partnership with Student Life department)
    • Food and Student Store (in partnership with Dining Services department)
    • Enrollment deposits (in partnership with Admissions department)
    • Fundraising (in partnership with Institutional Advancement department)
  • Deferred Revenue:
    • Create annual deferred revenue accrual
    • Book monthly entry to recognize revenue
    • Reconcile during month-end close cycle
  • Accounts Receivable:
    • Collections for all billing activities
    • Cash applications: apply cash receipts to appropriate accounts
    • Reconcile during month-end close cycle
  • Parent contract management
  • Family support regarding billing related questions
  • Cash receipts: deposit the daily receipts
  • Monthly bank reconciliation and investment rollforward
  • Business Office owner of all billing systems (in partnership with Technology department)
  • Enter journal entries into accounting system
  • Process improvement and identification of efficiencies
  • Assist with the monthly close process and the annual audit
  • Help resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Assist Accounting Manager and CFO with other projects as needed

The Revenue Accountant will also be the backup for all Accounts Payable functions.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comfortable with many different systems and willingness to dive into the unknown
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient at working in a Microsoft Windows 10 environment, using Office (version 2013 or higher); ability to master common automated systems for record keeping, and confidently learn new technology

  • Ability to work and communicate well with students, parents, faculty, staff, and specialists within the community

  • Flexibility, maturity and a good sense of humor
  • Ability to sit, keyboard and talk on the phone, up to eight hours per day

Credentials and Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelors Degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
  • Prior accounting experience preferred 
  • Experience with Concur and NetSuite a plus
