JOB SUMMARY 

  • Develop and provide Christian leadership for the JFCA Athletic Programs. Manage and Develop athletic programming for all constituents K-12 with an emphasis on 5th-12th grade teams (competitive and club level) for Middle School and High School JV and Varsity Athletics. Mentor and Develop Assistant Athletic Director.  Carry out the JFCA Athletic Department in support of the school’s mission, vision, values, and school philosophy to enrich the lives and deepen the faith of all students, families, and staff at JFCA.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Coaches - Recruit, develop, train, and mentor coaches. Disciple coaches in the ways of Jesus so that they can carry out discipleship for their athletes. Ensure coaches are equipped and trained for their sport. Maintain regular communication with the coaches in and out of a season. Oversee all paperwork, continued education, and rules adherence completed for all coaches.  Plan for the long-term success of a program through attracting, retaining, and effectively planning for the succession of coaches.
  • Student-Athletes - Engage with students. Invest in the lives of students on and off the field recognizing their greatest need is Jesus. Provide opportunities for greater development of athletes in their sport while prioritizing academics to ensure eligibility for all athletes for JFCA and associations. Assist and provide opportunities for college recruiting while focusing on the advancement of all athletes.
  • Families - Recognize the importance of the family to the success of the athlete.  Plan programming with mindfulness of impact on families. Communicate effectively with families in a clear and timely manner.  Create environments at all sporting events home or away conducive to family and friends' support. Encourage volunteers and clear roles where parents can support and help.
  • Community: Cultivate sporting events that encourage a Christ-centered community for families, students, teachers, and staff, to foster meaningful relationships and belonging while showing support for JFCA Athletes.
  • Teams - Oversee all Athletic programs and events. Determine which sports will have teams or clubs. Ensure the development of teams on all levels.  Execute master schedule development and sport scheduling. Review the effectiveness of each team at the end of each season. Maintain team records, team budget, and team goals. Secure contracts, facilities, and referees.  Oversee the procurement of team uniforms, gear, and equipment. Plan for end-of-season banquets.
  • Leadership - Review and maintain JFCA Athletics facilities, policies, and overall budget. Be a positive presence at school, always developing relationships with potential athletes. Create and execute communication plans for key dates, celebration of athletes and teams, and highlighting of heart change through discipleship in sports.  Development of other programs such as camps, clinics, and conditioning that complement the athletics program on all levels. Mentor and develop the Assistant Athletic Director.
  • School Leadership: Represent JFCA athletics to all external entities including leagues, facilities, and media. Support the day-to-day operation and success of the school as a key member of the administrative team including staff development and support, student engagement, family advocacy, and supporting the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and Dean of Community Life and Discipleship.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Head of School.
  • Support the Senior Pastor and all other church staff.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    V.  EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Sports Administration, Education, or related field required; Master’s Degree in a similar field preferred. 
  • Previous experience working in athletic program administration required. 
  • Current or previous coaching experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of GAPPS, NFHS, GHSA, and other athletic association rules and regulations; familiarity with and contacts in Georgia schools is highly desirable.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or working on a computer.
  • Must be comfortably able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Must be able to lift 15 or more pounds at time.
