Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School invites applications for a position as a science / math teacher for the 2021 - 2022 academic year. Located in Washington, DC and founded in 1799, Georgetown Visitation educates young women in grades 9 12 in a faith centered community focused on educational excellence and rooted in the Roman Catholic faith in the Salesian tradition.
Successful candidates should have a strong academic background and previous teaching experience in a rigorous science and math curriculum; the needs of the Science department include a teacher for our introductory course in Conceptual Physics. At least 2 - 3 years teaching experience in a secondary school classroom is preferred; similar experience in a college setting will be considered. Candidates should possess a clear vision for what success at high levels of high school study require, be able to challenge talented young women to grow in critical thinking and creative problem solving, and implement teaching methods that serve diverse learning styles.
Candidates must also be willing to work closely with departmental colleagues in a collaborative, increasingly inter-departmental setting. Energy, enthusiasm, and a desire to communicate with young women are essential. Prior experience teaching in a secondary setting preferred. Experiences in engineering, robotics, computer science, architecture, etc. are valued as ways to contribute to and enrich Visitations curricular and co-curricular experiences. Bachelors degree in a related field required; Masters preferred.
