Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides building information modeling (BIM) and computer aided design (CAD) support, along with medical technology decision support, procurement services, and logistical support to healthcare institutions for new construction and renovation projects.  Specifically, creates and updates CAD/BIM models for all phases of construction projects in collaboration with project managers. Also, reviews and updates medical equipment lists, researches technologies to address client challenges, contacts device manufacturers for quotes and technical data, creates and issues Requests to Purchases, assists with delivery management, and assists with project closeout. Keeps clients and project managers updated on the status of ongoing tasks.

Project Support

  • BIM and CAD responsibilities:
    • Performs CAD/BIM project activities such as drawing creation, coordination, review and delivery to client, architect, vendor, contractor, etc. Requests additional support as needed.
    • Accurately places and updates BIM and CAD models for construction projects in coordination with ECRI Institute project managers and clients.
    • Independently builds and updates BIM families at LOD 100, 200 and 300
    • Manages CAD/BIM project files and equipment model/family libraries.
       
  • Provides services to healthcare organizations for the selection, acquisition, and implementation of clinical capital equipment for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Participates in project team and client user meetings, researching options on medical equipment and procurement activities and also develops minutes for project manager review and authorization
  • Provides well written, accurate, and timely deliverables to clients for, but not limited to:
  • medical equipment planning
  • equipment needs assessment
  • purchasing and logistical support
  • vendor and distributor relationships
  • request for proposal support
  • budget and project updates
  • Researches medical technologies including reviewing ECRI Institute technical information and contacting vendors for additional information.
  • Researches vendors, suppliers and distributors that will best support project and client needs.
  • Ensures project completion in a timely manner and meets all of the client's expectations.
  • Executes the procurement process by acquiring quotes, negotiating on behalf of the client, and ensuring compliance with client terms, conditions, and pricing. 
  • Participates in clinical users meetings to evaluate end user needs and updates deliverables as appropriate. 
  • Provides review and quality control services to ensure deliverables meet client expectations; including technical reviews of databases, changes, and deliverables. 
  • When appropriate, uses other ECRI Institute staff, and their specific skills to produce integrated reports with practical recommendations.
  • Reviews draft consulting reports produced by peers, as needed, and act as technical resource for other consulting projects, including SELECT Projects.

Administrative:

  • Maintains complete, detailed and dated records for all assigned projects, including all correspondence meeting and telephone notes, of draft and final reports, etc.
  • Routinely and accurately informs project leaders and the Applied Solutions Group management of the status of all in progress projects.
  • Reads relevant technical journals and literature related to activities to maintain an up to date knowledge of medical technology.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Metrics:

  • Work to achieve metrics goals that are pre-established by direct supervisor on an annual basis.  Track your progress in meeting all goals and provide rationale for when goals are not met.
  • Meet with supervisor to discuss potential approaches for more effectively meeting your goals or to identify challenges in meeting goals and ways to overcome the challenges.
  • Assist the Applied Solutions Group with attaining the earned revenue goals.
  • Meet the goal of at least 85% of time being billable.
  • Meet all project due dates and deliverable requirements.

MEP Specialist Training:

  • Provides training and mentoring to new Planning Specialist hires.
  • Develops and outlines training schedule for new ASG hires.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD/BIM planning, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus required. Must have excellent written and verbal communications and demonstrable independent problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to multitask with attention to detail and to meet competing deadlines is required.

Education: Minimum of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college with a bachelor’s degree preferred or 5 years of experience in related field.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in AutoDesk Revit and AutoCAD, MS Office and web-based applications is required. Experience with medical equipment planning is preferred.
