Project Manager – Civil – Energy

We are seeking a Project Manager with 8+ years of civil engineering and project management experience to lead a growing team of civil engineers within BL Companies’ Energy division.

Job Description:

This position will be primarily responsible for overseeing and managing production of civil design elements for Energy portfolio projects, including site plans, grading plans, details, erosion controls, access road plans, profiles and cross-sections, utility and storm drainage plans and profiles, general notes and plan notations, specification preparation, bid document preparation, and permitting.  These deliverables, in addition to personnel and client management, will support the collaborative development of projects in BL’s Energy division, including work related to natural gas networks, electrical distribution and substations, and renewable energy assets such as ground-mount photovoltaic solar generation facilities. 

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Site layout
  • Grading and earthwork
  • Stormwater management design and permitting
  • Erosion and sedimentation control design and permitting
  • Preparation / submission of permits
  • Quality assurance
  • Mentoring and development of direct reports
  • Interfacing with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Developing proposals and contracts
  • Managing project schedules, resourcing, and financial metrics

 

Required Experience:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • 8+ years of civil or utility-related engineering and project management experience
  • Knowledge of site layout, grading, storm water and erosion control design principles
  • Construction/constructability expertise as it relates to production of design drawings and resolution of field issues

 

Preferred Experience:

  • NYS PE
  • Trenchless technology design
  • Foundation / geotechnical experience and understanding
  • Specification writing
