Principal Objective/Role Overview:

The Manager, Institutional Giving is responsible for preparing foundation, corporate, and government grants and reports. The Manager will gather information from various departments and work with the Development team to develop a strategic plan for foundation giving, leads government RFP responses, and manages consultant relationships. In collaboration with staff, strategizes and helps develop planning, implementation, and evaluation to inform proposals and reports.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Development team to develop a strategic plan for foundation giving.
  • Lead the preparation and writing of government proposals in response to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and discretionary opportunities.
  • Write foundation and other proposals and reports in a style that is consistent with other Graham materials.
  • Contract with and oversee consultants in the writing, editing, and timely submission of grant proposals.
  • Coordinate with multiple departments (e.g., fiscal, evaluation) to gather necessary data for proposals and reports.
  • Work closely with the fiscal team to develop proposal budgets and reports.
  • Follow grant guidelines carefully, collaborate with initiative leaders to develop proposal content, prepare required attachments, and submit proposals in advance of deadlines.
  • Conduct research on prospective foundation and corporate funders.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective foundation and corporate funders and liaise with current funders to learn about opportunities, guidelines, and timelines.
  • Develop/maintain effective, long-term working relationships with grantors.
  • Plan and participate in foundation site visits, as appropriate.
  • Prepare other written materials, as needed.

Position Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in grants management and grant writing
  • Experience writing proposals in response to government RFPs
  • Professional experience in youth development, workforce development, community organizing, family support preferred
  • Experience achieving fundraising results
  • Outstanding writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people including donors, prospective donors, staff, youth, and families
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Must be hospitable, flexible, a team player, and have a passion for social justice and work with children, youth, and families
  • Must be willing to travel throughout NYC, as needed.

 

Salary & Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $95,000.00/year
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
