Overview:

United Way of Southwestern PA (UWSWPA) focuses on solving pressing issues by bringing together the entire community policymakers, corporate leaders, agency partners and individuals who want to assist our neighbors in need and develop long-term solutions.

 

 

Job Summary:

This member of the UWSWPA regional team is accountable for donor acquisition and retention, focused on engaging a portfolio of individual donors, agency partners, professional networking groups and companies/organizations not traditionally partnering with UWSWPA in Westmoreland, Fayette, Butler and Armstrong Counties, contributing to the achievement of UWSWPAs mission and vision by maximizing revenue. The Regional Donor Engagement Manager will develop and implement fundraising strategies that grow campaign revenue and year-round engagement to increase overall contributions.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Research, identify and prioritize prospects (entrepreneurs, individuals, and local businesses) for engagement with UWSPWA through any or all of the following:

    • Personal gift

    • Corporate gift

    • Volunteer opportunities

    • Connection to a critical issue aligned with United Way

  • Develop and coordinate individualized engagement strategies across the four-county region, collaborating as appropriate with other United Way staff, volunteers, and Board members.

  • Actively engage, manage and maintain portfolio of prospective and existing donors; cultivate, solicit and steward each individual relationship. Develop and coordinate strategic fundraising growth plans for leadership level giving ($1,000+), in coordination with major gifts team members.

  • Set revenue goals for individual accounts based on evaluation of strengths and weaknesses and identify areas for potential growth.

  • Track/maintain records of fundraising results and projections; recommend tactics to meet goals.

  • Ensure that the principles and practices of excellent Customer Relations Management are in place, continually monitored and improved.

  • Develop year-round engagement with donors through volunteerism, special events, and donor-group activities.

  • Use creative thinking and multiple resources to develop new revenue streams.

  • Collaborate with other development staff to maximize potential of current donors.

 

Additional Functions:

  • Identify, recruit, and motivate volunteers for the campaign and United Way committees (i.e., RFP volunteers; leadership donor groups, etc.) in a timely manner.

  • Represent the United Way at community functions and activities to network.

  • Participate in meetings and training programs to enhance program knowledge and relationship building skills (potential travel involved)

  • Manage special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Annual Salary

  • Pay Grade 104

  • Salary Range - $40,600 - $47,800

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (subject matter expertise, soft skills, technical skills, etc.)

  • Required:

    • Fundraising, including

      • Relationship building

      • Ability and confidence to make the ask

      • Ability and confidence to close the deal

      • Prospecting (potential new, potential increases)

      • Public speaking skills with emphasis on persuasiveness and negotiations

      • Analytical planning and problem solving

    • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with a strong ability to communicate openly and effectively.

    • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Work well independently and within a team.

    • Must display a professional demeanor and must be able to work effectively and tactfully with diverse groups of people.

    • Strong computer aptitude with the ability to easily learn new programs, databases, and procedures in an every-changing work environment.

    • Intermediate level Microsoft office products (Outlook, Teams, Excel).

 

Certifications/Licenses (examples include CPA, Microsoft, drivers license, child abuse clearances, etc.)

  • Required: PA Drivers license

 

Physical Demands

  • Light: Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly. Even when weight lifted is negligible, a job is rated light when: 1) it involves walking or standing to a significant degree; 2) it requires sitting most of the time but involves pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; 3) it involves working at a production rate that requires constant pushing or pulling of materials.

 

 

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel within the region via ground transportation

  • Potential travel outside the region via ground or air transportation
