Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. First Step (Residential DetoxificationProgram) Thisis a highly structured inpatient medically monitored detoxification program, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This program offers individual counseling, group therapy, case management, referral services for continuing care, and medical management. First Step is a CARF accredited, DPH licensed 27 bed residential detox unit for individuals aged 18 and over struggling with addiction to alcohol, opiates and/or benzodiazepines.

 

HOURS

Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm (flexibility with schedule required)

 

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Adhere to all federal and state regulations as they pertain to a 3.7D Medically Monitored Detox level of care.
  • Providing direct client care when needed.
  • Responsible for organizing team work in a way that is efficient and productive.
  • Responsible for training, orienting and providing direct observation and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Responsible for scheduling and securing appropriate nursing coverage.
  • Responsible for maintaining professional relations with other providers, including methadone maintenance clinics to facilitate client transitions.
  • Management of medication and medical supply inventory.
  • Assist pharmacist in maintaining accurate inventory of Methadone and other controlled substances.
  • Provide oversight and documentation of all activities related to the dispensing of medication in accordance with nursing standards of care, program policies and procedures.
  • Verify, update, record and file doctor’s orders, dosage levels and laboratory results in client records.
  • Provide individual supervision to nurses on a regular basis.  Maintain records of supervision.
  • Routinely audit client record in the following areas:  (1) Medical  (2) Nursing (3) Authorization for treatment.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Promotes and supports nurses to engage in ongoing training to enhance knowledge and remain current in the field.
  • Review and conduct pre-certifications.
  • Compile, prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide on-call nursing support in conjunction with program director.
  • Assumes all other appropriate duties deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Qualifications

CORE COMPETENCIES

Registered Nurse (RN) degree required. 

  • Thorough knowledge in the provision of medical and detoxification treatment. 
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent communication and supervisory skills.  
  • Substantial specialized judgment and skill in observation, care and counsel of individuals experiencing withdrawal symptoms. 
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Scheduling flexibility required.
  • Project a professional image at all times.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

Current State of Connecticut Registered Nursing License required.  Valid Connecticut driver’s license is required.
