Description

The Northbrook Park District is hiring Lifeguards to join our team for the 2024 pool season! We provide the training needed to become StarGuard lifeguard licensed and CPR/AED certified. You'll be able to use these skills to create a fun and safe environment for our pool patrons.

Hours & Pay

Hours vary including mornings, mid-day, evenings and/or weekends. Starting at $15/hour.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Properly supervise pool patrons at our outdoor aquatic facilities to ensure their safety
  • Enforce all pool rules and regulations
  • Respond to situations in which a patron needs to be rescued and/or administered first aid
  • Maintain cleanliness of facilities, including keeping pool deck free of debris and clutter
  • Maintain positive public relations with patrons. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must be 15 years old with a work permit or older and have an interest in working at an aquatic facility. Must hold, or have ability to obtain, a current StarGuard lifeguard license and CPR/AED certification. Previous experience working in an aquatic setting is highly desirable.

Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, talk, hear and swim; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Use of head and neck movement to scan the water. Hand-eye coordination and specific vision abilities are required and include close vision and ability to adjust focus. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May infrequently lift and/or move objects 50 pounds or greater with staff assistance.
