Lifeguard Position - Albany, NY

New starting rate of $20 per hour!  
Are you looking for the perfect summer job with flexible scheduling? The Northeast residential program is seeking a full-time and a part-time Lifeguard to work out of our Albany campus. Our Lifeguards provide rescue and lifesaving services, teach water safety and swim instruction to children and adolescents in our program during the summer months, and helps to maintain our pools for optimal health and safety. 


  • Monitor and maintain order in the swimming pool area to prevent accidents 

  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning, administering first aid as needed 

  • Inspect the swimming facilities at the beginning and end of each shift for cleanliness; monitor and record the chlorine content and pH level of the water 

  • Provide students with ongoing swimming instruction based on ability level 

  • Hold students and staff accountable to the rules of the pool area and report any concerns with adherence of these rules to a Residential Supervisor 

  • Work as needed in other areas of the recreational department during inclement weather 

  • Flexible scheduling - daytime and early evening hours on weekdays and/or weekends. 

  • Free Lifeguard Certification class offered to viable candidates 



  • Requires an Advance Life Saving certificate or equivalent (must be a certified Lifeguard) 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age 

  • Availability from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend 

  • Experience working with children and adolescents and the ability to understand the basics of the therapeutic environment preferred
