Description

Position Description:

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing physician ordered evaluations and treatment for patients, including setting short- and long-term goals as well as the prevention of regression.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Under physician’s orders, evaluate and treat patients with disorders which prohibit or delay self-care
  2. Prepare detailed documentation of treatment provided, length of treatment and progress toward outcomes identified in plan of care
  3. Create treatment and therapy plans to suit the individual needs of a diverse population of patients including short- and long-term goals
  4. Perform screenings to detect self-care disorders
  5. Educate patients, parents and caregivers about functional and self-care delays, causes and plan or treatment
  6. Report patient progress and current status to appropriate parties including family members, caregiver or medical professional
  7. Team with parent, caregiver or other therapists in a therapy session, as appropriate
  8. Make appropriate referrals for additional patient services, as needed
  9. Participate in bi-monthly therapy meetings as required
  10. Attend CEU trainings as needed to maintain professional license requirements
  11. Comply with federal, state, and local certification requirements
  12. Other duties as assigned by management

 

Qualifications

Qualifications & Education: (include, but are not limited to)

  1. Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university
  2. Passed national boards
  3. Ability to move freely in office and clinical areas
  4. Thorough understanding of pediatric occupational delays, causes and treatments
  5. Excellent communication skills: oral and written

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to travel to other APT locations as needed
  2. Ability to move freely around office and clinical settings for patient treatment
  3. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
  4. Ability to sit for brief to extended periods of time and work on computer
