Description

The Special Projects Coordinator for Community Impact provides support across the Community Impact department, supporting United Way in meeting its goals in the areas of Meeting Basic Needs, Moving Toward Financial Stability, and Building for Success in School and Life by providing project management, communication, coordination, and collaboration across both internal and external partners. The Special Projects Coordinator will also play a critical role in supporting United Ways Community Change Collaboratives, as well as assisting with the departments advocacy and policy agenda through communication, coordination, and research.


Essential Functions

  • Community Change Collaboratives

    • Provide general assistance and coordination for the Community Change Collaborativescommunity issues that are identified annually for special focus to make a positive change through cross-sector convening and collaboration. Current examples include:

      • Guaranteed Basic Income Pilot Program

      • Digital Inclusion

      • Emergency Financial Assistance for College Students

      • Food Secure City

      • Gun Violence Prevention

      • The Intersection of Race, Ethnicity, Disability and Poverty

      • Strengthening the Out-of-School Time Workforce

    • Specific focus on coordinating United Ways Digital Inclusion work including managing communication among multiple stakeholder groups, tracking progress, and reporting for associated grants.

    • Assist with communication, research, and project management, as needed, for each Collaborative.

  • Policy and Legislation Tracking

    • Assist the Chief Program and Policy Officer and Advocacy Committee in tracking and researching legislation relevant to the work of United Way.

    • Provide general assistance to the Advocacy Committee including communications and meeting coordination.

  • Special Projects

    • Assist the Community Impact team with new and emerging Community Impact projects as needed, this may include:

      • Administering the Falk Facilities and Technology Improvement Fund request for proposals and other small scale RFP processes

      • Coordinating emergency crisis response projects and seasonal activities such as holiday food distribution.

Additional Functions

  • Support the operational needs of the Community Impact Department, including overall promotion and management of Community Impact efforts including facilitating internal communications as needed.

People Management Responsibilities

  • NA

Financial/Budgetary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with CI Operations Director and relevant Program Directors to monitor project budgets.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Associates Degree

  • Two or more years of progressive project management experience

  • Demonstrated success in collaborative settings with community organizations and institutions of diverse size, scope and range of interests

 

Annual Salary

  • Pay Grade 103

  • Salary Range $36,900 - $43,400

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse populations and to function well within a team environment

  • Knowledge and familiarity with the human services sector and relevant issues

  • Ability to be self-directed and decisive

  • Planning and organizing skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and assignments under often strict deadlines

Preferred:

  • Experience with legislative affairs and policy research

 

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel within the region via ground transportation
