Purpose of Santa Fe/North Outreach Artistic Associate Role:

The Artistic Associate is responsible for teaching NDI New Mexico curriculum and creating choreography in the In-school and Advanced Teams programs, bringing high-quality program and performance experiences to students in the Santa Fe and North Outreach programs. The Artistic Associate is responsible to the Associate Director of Outreach Programs for ensuring the artistic and administrative success of the programs and for carrying out the mission of the organization with excellence.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Artistic - Teaching, Choreography, and Directing

  • Teaches approximately 15-20 hrs/week in Santa Fe and North Outreach (In-School and Advanced Teams) programs, creating lesson plans and choreography aligned with curriculum and End-of-Year Event scripts
  • Teaches specialty programs including Tiny Tots, Parent-Teacher dance, and special guests
  • Teaches and choreographs for Summer Institute
  • Teaches in the Dance Barns After-School program as needed              
  • Teaches Train the Trainer workshops and other related programs as needed
  • Directs programs as assigned and based on experience
  • Subs in the outreach and after-school programs as needed                

Administrative

  • Supports Associate Director of Outreach and Santa Fe Program Producer with administrative duties for Santa Fe and North Outreach and Advanced Training programs and associated events and activities, including but not limited to planning and creating schedules, leading and tracking communication with students and families, creating informational materials related to event and program logistics, and other communications and administrative duties as assigned

Special Events/Projects

  • Provides backstage and/or front of house support for Santa Fe and North End-of-Year Events, and Dance Barns Program performances, including acting as stage manager, deck manager, runner, or other roles as assigned.
  • Supports administration and production of associated programs, projects and events, including Thank You Project, Dance-A-Thon, Teaching Excellence, special events off-site, and others as needed

Cultivates Relationships with Community Stakeholders

  • Develops positive relationships with parent volunteers to engage families in the program, inspiring their commitment, and enlisting and coordinating their support for events.
  • Fosters positive relations, and acts as an advocate for the organization with all community stakeholders  

General Duties:

  • Works collaboratively with all other Full-time staff to ensure quality, consistency, and coordination of all work and programming
  • Schedules regular office hour time
  • Attends all enrichment workshops and meetings, including artistic and joint staff meetings
  • Compiles program reference materials
  • Upholds all Management and HR policies and procedures
  • Other duties as needed

Working Conditions, Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Functions performed in a variety of environments including: NDI New Mexico offices, schools, residency sites, and other locations
  • Requires reimbursable in-state travel to NDI New Mexico locations, participating schools, residency sites, and community events 
  • Requires weekend and evening hours.
  • Requires extensive physical movement, dance, high energy, and stamina
  • May require lifting up to 25 lbs.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Job Specific Requirements: 

  • Professional dance performance experience
  • College level education preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in job-related duties
  • Experience teaching in NDI New Mexico programs preferred
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Highly motivated and energetic
  • Passionate about working with children through the NDI-NM Outreach Methodology
