Position Summary

This position will be responsible for managing the SMO Volunteer Program. As Volunteer Program Coordinator this person will be responsible for the organization, recruitment and placement of volunteers. This position will also conduct training, onboarding, coaching and termination of volunteers for the volunteer program at Science Museum Oklahoma.

 

Essential Functions

  • Manages the Volunteer Program for Science Museum Oklahoma
  • Responsible for the recruitment and placement of volunteers
  • Acts as a liaison between the Museum and community volunteer partners
  • Works with supervisors and Museum leadership to determine volunteer need and plan.
  • Organizes volunteers during events and functions
  • Develops long term strategies for volunteer engagement
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the volunteer handbook
  • Ensures that volunteer records and hours are kept as required
  • Responsible for updating the volunteer information systems database
  • Ensures that volunteers are properly screened according to policy
  • Responsible for training, onboarding, coaching and termination of individual volunteers
  • Responsible for operating the Volunteer Program within current laws and compliance guidelines and staying up-to-date with changing legislation.
  • Other duties as assigned
Credentials/Experience
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 3 or more years of previous experience as a volunteer coordinator at a non-profit organization.
