Company Summary: Aeglea a clinical-stage biotechnology company that engineers next generation human enzymes with enhanced properties and novel activity to provide solutions for diseases with unmet medical need. Aeglea recently initiated its pivotal Phase 3 PEACE trial for its lead investigational therapy, pegzilarginase, for the treatment of Arginase 1 Deficiency. In addition, Aeglea has an active pipeline of other human enzyme-based approaches for rare genetic disease, including programs for both Homocystinuria and Cystinuria, which are planned to enter clinical studies in the next year. 

Position Summary: Aeglea BioTherapeutics, based in Austin Texas, is currently recruiting for a Senior Director, Commercial Operations. This individual will be responsible for building out our commercial data and analytics infrastructure to maximize the potential of our pipeline and commercial portfolio. From a data operations perspective, this individual will play a key role in identifying and prioritizing external data sources and in building Aeglea’s commercial data warehouse, infrastructure, and reporting capabilities.  Likewise, this role will work with the commercial leadership team to design our sales strategies, including sales force size and structure, targeting strategy, and incentive compensation programs. Additionally, this position will lead the company’s market research to revenue forecasting efforts and will work closely with our commercial leadership team to build and manage our patient services and access/reimbursement capabilities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:

  • Works with the Chief Commercial Officer and commercial leadership team to develop and communicate in-line and pipeline revenue forecasts, integrating market performance metrics and internal knowledge with primary and secondary market research
  • Develops epidemiology models where appropriate to inform pipeline forecasting and market-sizing efforts
  • Identifies secondary data sources and leverages them to proactively address questions from business partners
  • With vendor support and in collaboration with marketing, executes primary market research projects to drive business strategy, commercial assumptions, and answer immediate business questions
  • Collaborates with commercial leadership team on US commercial assessments of all business development targets, including market landscape, revenue forecasts, pricing and gross-to-net (GTN) elements, and required SG&A investment
  • Supports market access efforts through the execution of payer and pricing research, managed care analytics, pricing and contracting support, and GTN forecasting
  • Provides direct support to sales force strategic planning, serving as an internal consultant on issues such as targeting optimization, call planning, etc.  Works with commercial leadership to establish, communicate, and monitor performance metrics and sales force KPI reporting efforts
  • Establishes and maintains our data operations ecosystem, including data warehousing, business intelligence (BI) platform, data governance, etc.
  • Serves as an internal consultant to partners/stakeholders across sales, marketing, patient services, market access, clinical, research, regulatory, finance, manufacturing, and others, building relationships within the global organization to support strategic decision-making across functional areas

Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will offer:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the life sciences industry, including 5+ years of analytics experience in forecasting, market research, and/or marketing sciences
  • Seeking a blend of science and business skills and experience
  • Experience building high-performing teams across multiple geographies and cultures as well as budgeting, sourcing, and managing vendors and external partners
  • Experience leveraging secondary data (syndicated sales, prescription, promotional & marketing data, longitudinal patient-level data, payer data, etc.) to develop forecasts, measure potential, identify opportunity, track performance, build reports, model scenarios, etc.
  • Familiar with the application of advanced analytics techniques to address business questions (e.g., modeling, predictive analytics, machine learning)

This is a high growth, fast paced, and small organization. The ability to be productive and successful in a scientifically led and data driven work environment is critical. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion is required, it is anticipated that this will be up to 40% of work time.
