Position purpose
To directly:  assist the Pastor in overall pastoral care of the parish.  Collaborates with pastor, parish staff, parish leadership and volunteers in fostering parish discipleship and engagement by developing and nurturing ministries by recruiting, training, mentoring parishioners to live out the faith. 

Major Responsibilities

A.    Collaborates with the Pastor and parish staff in implementing the mission of the parish. This is accomplished by participating in the comprehensive planning, implementation, and evaluation of the parish’s programs, goals, and objectives, with specific focus on pastoral ministry, engagement and evangelization of parishioners.

B.    Coordinate Liturgical Ministries of the parish
•    Recruit and train ministry leaders (head of the lectors, eucharistic ministers, choirs, sacristans, altar servers, ushers, art and environment).
•    Coordinate the scheduling and training of liturgical ministers.
•    Coordinate liturgical celebrations, special liturgies, and seasonal celebrations throughout the year.
•    Assure that materials for worship are available for both presider and assembly.
•    Prepare Intercessions and Mass announcements.
•    Oversee the liturgy budget. 

C.    Coordinate outreach ministries of the parish including 
•    Minister to the sick and homebound.
•    Outreach to those in need including Social Justice ministry, St. Vincent de Paul and Safe Parking, refugee program, and All Parish Service Day.
•    Become acquainted with as many of the parishioners as possible by overseeing the joining, welcoming, and membership process as a whole, and events to facilitate community life, such as annual parish life celebration. 

D.    Provide direct pastoral care as needed to bereaved, those in crisis, people in broken marriages, etc, referring people to appropriate resources and programs.  Serves as Tribunal advocate as necessary. Assist with funerals and funeral planning as needed. 

E.    Prepare and monitor budgets for all areas directly connected with this position.

F.    Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

Skills and qualifications:

•    Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church
•    Five years of experience in a pastoral setting
•    Strong communication skills
•    MA in theology or equivalent experience 
•    Must have an understanding of the Catholic faith and faith development
•    Ability to prioritize workload to meet program requirements
•    Ability to work both independently and as a member of a pastoral team
•    Flexible, creative, responsible, and technologically inclined
•    A positive attitude and a self-starter
•    The PA must be able to keep confidences as the parish staff is often exposed to confidential/sensitive matters.
•    Work is performed in a church or office setting with daily/weekly deadlines 
•    Some evening, weekend and holiday work is required 
 

 

 

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
