Description

The Middle School Classroom Teacher (Grades 4-6) is a full time position reporting to the Head of the Middle School. The classroom teacher is responsible for guiding the social, emotional and academic growth of a class of students. The ability to appreciate and work effectively across individual and cultural differences is essential.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines and requirements.
  • Teach the assigned curriculum using different instructional resources, correct assignments, administer tests, observe and evaluate students’ progress.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities by integrating competencies, and goals into the lesson plans.
  • Keep attendance records; manage student behavior in classroom and maintain a positive educational environment for all students.
  • Meet with the parents to discuss student progress and problems.
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and other teacher training workshops.
  • Ensure the social, emotional and academic (language arts, mathematics, and social studies) growth of a class of children
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience teaching at the Middle School level.
  • Ability to communicate, motivate and understand the students’ educational and emotional needs. 
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize different teaching methods that will result in higher student achievement.
