Director of Enterprise Sales

The Art of Education University (AOEU) is seeking an experienced sales leader to take charge of all operations within the sales department. The director of enterprise sales is ultimately responsible for all preparations and efforts in and around achieving quota, which is of critical importance to the organization’s financial interests and growth trajectories. This position involves but is not limited to key responsibilities such as hiring, developing and leading team members, implementing and maintaining pipeline management best practices and standards using a CRM platform, developing, reporting on and following through on quarterly and annual forecasts and quotas, and general administrative or department-level tasks.

POSITION DETAILS

Structured as a remote full-time, salaried position with commission and bonus potential. This position will report to the Chief Growth Officer.

The Details

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop and Achieve Quota

  • Strategically develop the team’s annual quota that recognizes TAM, historical team and individual performance, closing averages and weighted probabilities, industry trends, etc.
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates on quota trends, specific contracts and their potential risks, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide individual contributors personalized guidance and support related to either KPIs, pipeline management, or strategic planning.

Develop and Achieve Forecast

  • Strategically develop the team’s monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts that recognize individual forecast submissions, historical closing averages and weighted probabilities, and available pipeline.
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates on forecast trends, specific contracts and their potential risks, and risk mitigation strategies that may or may not impact the forecast.
  • Hold individual contributors accountable to KPIs, pipeline management best practices, and to achieving forecasts.

Develop, Manage, and Advance Sales Pipeline

  • Strategically develop the team’s quarterly pipeline goals and standards.
  • Regularly review team and individual pipelines to determine customer opportunities or deals are current and advancing through the pipeline stages, not over-valued and clear of any gaps or oversights.
  • Monitor pipeline health and trends by leveraging reports and charts for actionable insights and status updates.

Recruit, Develop, and Lead top Sales Talent

  • Work to keep a bench warm with potential hires to fill unexpected vacancies promptly.
  • Meet weekly with team members in 1:1 settings to discuss weekly performance, KPIs, customer opportunities or deals, and provide individualized guidance and instruction.
  • Lead weekly and monthly team meetings that provide both updates and growth opportunities.
  • Organize and plan for quarterly team and division professional learning meet-ups or summits.

General Administration

  • Participate in and contribute to monthly organization and division meetings
  • Lead out department strategic planning that includes department goals and projects.
  • Prepare or revise a national sales plan that clearly articulates how with the sales department’s operations annual quotas and targets will be achieved.
  • Planning and tracking department budgets and spending.
  • Travel up to 40%

  • Expert in sales coaching, training, and driving team members towards personal excellence and achievement.
  • Expert understanding of the sales process at both the macro and micro level.
  • Positive and engaging personality with a passion for products, and people.
  • Ability to understand and empathize with administrators, art teachers, and other stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills that reflect a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to quickly create strong professional relationships.
  • Adept at problem-solving, including the ability to identify issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to effectively interpret sales analytical reports and data to determine what is actionable.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments to optimize sales operations
  • Extremely detail-oriented and in tune with all aspects of the sales department.
  • Highly organized with the ability to efficiently manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Strong professional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to conduct research to find key intel or data that would influence growth trends and performance outcomes.
  • Able to regularly meet rigorous deadlines.
  • Self-driven work ethic and ability to fully function in a remote/from home work environment.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution a plus.

EXPERIENCE

  • 4+ years of sales management experience
  • 5+ years of enterprise or B2B sales experience
  • Enterprise software sales experience, preferably in K-12 curriculum and professional learning software platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a variety of technology and platforms.
  • Hubspot CRM knowledge is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to view computer screens for significant periods of time. The Art of Education University is an online university therefore 95-98% of one’s time will be on or using technology.
  • Ability to use a laptop keyboard with accuracy.
  • Ability to hear at normal levels and through electronic devices such as laptops, earbuds, phones, and the like.

COMPENSATION

Compensation is commensurate with experience and market. We encourage you to discuss your compensation requirements early in the process.

The Process

For most roles, the process is as follows:

  • Step 1: ~30-minute phone interview with hiring manager
  • Step 2: Round 2 packet & Interview
    • Given that AOEU is 100% remote, this step is intended to see how you might work through some of the daily tasks, responsibilities, and challenges that could arise in this role. You will be given a prompt and be asked to complete an assignment which will then be used to guide a ~1 hour follow-up Zoom interview with 1-2 stakeholders. The intention is for you to get a sense of the role and give us an opportunity to see your skills in action. Your answers will not be used for any other purposes beyond evaluating your candidacy.
  • Step 3: Follow-up interview
    • For certain managerial or high-collaboration roles, you may be asked to participate in an additional Zoom interview.
