Description

POSITION SUMMARY 

Responsible for all facets of processing orders including:  data entry, picking, labeling, packing and closing of orders.  Responsible for maintaining accurate shipping records as well as creating monthly reports. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

 

  • Generate pick tickets, shipping and item labels from various points of information (EDI, WASP, customer websites, etc.), freight bills and process all orders.
  • Accurately enter shipping information into UPS, FedEx and/or other freight companies’ software to generate shipping labels as well as creating specialty labels as required for customer-specific requirements.
  • Identify and locate customer order items to be picked from warehouse bins using a handheld scanner; reduce inventory of the proper number of items.
  • Accurately pick and pack orders utilizing a stand up truck or by hand, printed pick tickets and/or RF/hand held scanner.
  • Accurately enter shipping information into Microsoft Dynamics AX/handheld scanner to generate packing slips.
  • Accurately create freight bill of lading forms, quote and schedule freight loads in order to process outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure that all appropriate labels and paperwork accompanies orders and is completely accurate.
  • Package, label and ship/load all FEDEX, UPS and freight orders.
  • Wrap, mark, label and stage orders in the appropriate location.
  • Create and process customer returns in warehouse management system and email appropriate parties with information and direction for product.
  • Effectively communicate with customers to obtain shipping authorization information and submit online advanced ship notices via EDI.
  • Report shortages, backorders and personnel issues to warehouse leaders.
  • Assist with auditing and doing quality checks on picked items/orders.
  • Ability to quickly change direction of order picking if any urgent requests are sent from upper management or customer service.
  • Ensure rotation of order pulling to assure stock is distributed on a first in first out basis.
  • Keep Warehouse Manager informed on maintenance and repairs needed on stock picker and other warehouse equipment.
  • Assist with inventory.  
  • Assist with maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work under general supervision.
Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE 

 

Education:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

         

Experience:   2-years’ experience using Microsoft products required, experience using WMS and RF scanning or other mobile devices.  2-years’ experience in picking and loading.

 

Knowledge/Skills:     

  • Dependable, punctual and self-motivated with ability to work independently with consultation/direction.
  • Must possess good organizational skills, attention-to-detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including written and oral communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of truck lines, transportation regulations, material handling, warehousing and shipping principles.
  • Good math skills as well problem solving skills and ability to seek solutions which are not readily apparent in order to ensure reliable execution.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of individuals and skill levels.
  • Punctuality and accuracy in execution of transactions, data maintenance and other job responsibilities
  • Ability to analyze and monitor data in information systems (e.g., AX, SAP, MAS 500) to identify schedule/material discrepancies, inventory errors and other issues.
  • General understanding of inventory management principles (safety stock, JIT, FIFO/FEFO, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Possess a positive work attitude and a willingness to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to express and share knowledge and ideas in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must be willing to work overtime.
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work under general supervision.

 

Licenses/Certifications:  Must maintain a current Forklift/PIT Certification if operating a powered industrial truck.
